Day Three Photos

(In case you didn't know, you can click on the images to see bigger versions.)

Early in the day

To say there is a curve in the road ahead would be an understatement.

Just across the Oregon state line.

Driving through the mountains in Oregon and Utah have been the highlights of the trip so far. It's so incredible how tiny you feel next to these monsters.

Me thinks he was delivering this turbine arm to the wind farm off in the distance.

I'm pretty sure that's Mount Hood in the distance. Is there any mistaking the highest point in the state?

Evergreens became very abundant the farther I went.

More beautiful scenery.

This is the Spruce Goose. The actual Spruce Goose that Howard Hughes designed, built, and flew. When this museum took over care of the plane, they built the "hangar" around it, not leaving much room for anyone to back up and get the entire plane in a photo. This is as close as I could get!

This could give you an idea of how big it actually is by comparing it to other planes in the foreground. But you can't fully grasp its hugeness unless you see it in person. Truly mind-blowing.

Cape Foulweather, just north of Newport, OR.

More from Cape Foulweather.

The Pacific Ocean.

More of the Pacific.

And finally, the view from my hotel room. Yeah, I'll take that!
